Nymphaea caerulea (Blue Lotus)
Blue Lotus is a beautiful flower with a long history of use in the Eastern world. Used by the Egyptians as a sacred plant, it has long been associated with the Sun God Ra. The growth patterns were used as a metaphor for rebirth, and thusly played a role in funerary rights. In Buddhism, the lotus is a symbol of enlightenment, the flower coming up through the mud and water to a higher expression, a symbol of spiritual victory.
This plant has been used traditional as a dreaming tool; enhancing lucidity, calming the mind, and aiding in deep sleep. It is also well known for its aphrodisiac qualities. One traditional way of taking Blue Lotus was to make a preparation by steeping the flowers in wine and drinking them in the evening prior to going to sleep.
Our Blue Lotus Spagyric is a delightful evening treat, with a pleasant floral taste which can be taken on the tongue or in a bedtime tea or wine. A full 5-7 drop dose can support a calm and restful sleep, and may enhance dreaming.
